Theo Keller uses flameworking techniques to create his unique art glass creations. Flameworked glass is manipulated by heating the piece with a blowtorch while creating it. Keller grew up in Maine surrounded by artists and artisans in a pottery, painting and sculpture studio and has always had a deep interest in art. At age 18 he decided to focus on glassworking and began a formal apprenticeship in New Mexico under Lewis Wilson, a noted glass beadmaker and sculptor.
Over the years Keller has had a number of opportunities to work and train with outstanding glass artists including Italian master Emilio Santini and Loren Stump of the Penland School of Crafts. In 1998 Theo opened his own glass studio, but continues to learn and experiment with new techniques.
